Sponsorship Programme


Spectrium is dedicated to effectively running education programs in previously disadvantaged communities as part of its Social Investment Program.  The aim is to offer a range of short skills, academic and vocational learning programs created to assist learners to gain critical competence skills that apply to life and workplace settings.

We invite companies and investors to participate in our Educational Sponsorship Programme as a perfect opportunity for them to carry out some of their Corporate Social Initiative activities. Participating companies will gain marketing exposure as well as providing the society with a true educational skills resource base.

Be a partner in education and let’s educate the previously disadvantaged youths. Let’s create the South Africa we want (relevant skills, employability and industrialization).

FAQ

Does my sponsorship contribution go directly to the student?

No. Sponsorship contributions are pooled centrally and used to fund programs benefiting sponsored students.

Can I/we choose the student to sponsor?

Our normal practice is to assign the student who has been waiting the longest for a sponsor, regardless of gender, age, or nationality. However, we respect that you may be interested in sponsoring a student from a specific region or have a preference with respect to gender and age. If so, please let us know and we will try our best to fulfill your wishes.

Where do students who need sponsorship come from?

Students on a sponsorship programme are obtained from the Databases of the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA), community based organizations, churches as well as schools in the townships.

How long can I commit myself or the organization to this sponsorship programme?

The length of your commitment is up to you. Many sponsors have been with us for many years, which allows us to make long-term commitments to our partner communities. If you choose to end your sponsorship for any reason, please call us so we can introduce your sponsored student to a new sponsor.

How long do students stay on the programme for sponsorship?

It depends on the programnme of study. Programme duration ranges from 4 months – 4 years. After that students can graduate. You can stay on the programme as long as you wish and you can sponsor as many students as you want.

Can I communicate with the student I sponsor?

Absolutely. We encourage you to do so. Writing to the student you sponsor is one of the most rewarding aspects of sponsorship.

Can I send gifts to the Sponsor I sponsor?

Yes

Can I visit the students I sponsor?

Yes. A visit to meet your sponsored student is tremendously rewarding. Just contact us with at least 10 days’ notice before your visit to the campus.

Can I share my involvement with the sponsorship through my personal or company website?

Yes, we welcome links to our website to raise awareness of Spectrium’s work. However, we do require that you respect the right to privacy of your sponsored Student.

How do I become a sponsor?

If you would like to become a sponsor, please e-mail us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and let us know if you have a preference of sponsoring a male or female student. We have many applications available and if you prefer, you can choose.

Can I employee the student a Sponsor?

Absolutely. You can employ the learner on a part time basis or a temporary employee staff during schools holidays. To gain tax rebate or cash in on your Skills Development Contribution you can sponsor the learner on a learnership.

What is the duration of the programme for sponsorship?

  • Short programme is 4 months
  • Certificate is 1 Year
  • Diploma is 2 or three years
  • Professional programmes (1 – 3 years)
